The Effects of Ridge Excrescences and Trailing-Edge Control Gaps on Twodimensional Aerofoil Characteristics

چکیده

Wind tunnel measurements of the effects on twodimensional section characteristics of square ridge excrescences and of some gaps typical of those found round trailing-edge controls have been made at high subsonic Mach number and at Reynolds numbers up to 15.6 x 106, based on section chord length. The incremental drag due to a square ridge was found to be generally underestimated by applying an estimated magnification factor to flat-plate measurements. Trailing-edge control gaps affected lift and pitching moment characteristics of the aerofoil as well as drag. A tentative correlation of the measurements of drag due to spanwise gaps is suggested. Note on the Flow Near the Tail of a Two-dimensional Aerofoil Moving at a Free-stream Mach Number close to Unity

This note discusses the flow near the trailing edge of a two-dimensional aerofoil moving at a free-stream Mach number close to unity, for cases where the effects of viscosity are slrall. A qualitative argument, which is supported by experimental evidence, suggests that the local Mach number downstream of the trailing-edge shock waves is approximately independent of tie-stream Mach number, a&rof...

Aerofoil tones produced by a plate with cavity: the effect of acoustic forcing

A streamlined flat plate (herein ‘aerofoil’) containing a small rectangular cavity on one side was experimentally found to produce aerofoil tones (rather than cavity tones) under certain flow conditions. To clarify the responsible mechanism, the effect of sinusoidal acoustic forcing on the boundary layer was investigated by placing a loudspeaker downstream of the aerofoil. Velocity fluctuations...

Low - Speed Aerodynamic Characteristics of NACA 0012 Aerofoi ] Section , including the Effects of Upper - Surface Roughness Simulating Hoar Frost

Results are presented for the aerodynamic characteristics of NACA 0012 aerofoil section at Reynolds numbers of 2-88 x 106 and 1.44 x 10 6 with some indications of scale effect at other Reynolds numbers. The measurement of CLmax at a Reynolds number of 2-88 x 10 6 is uncertain for two reasons. On the one hand, a laminar separation bubble disappears intermittently for reasons that are not fully u...

Simulating Cooling Injection Effect of Trailing Edge of Gas Turbine Blade on Surface Mach Number Distribution of Blade

In this research, a gas turbine blade cascade was investigated. Flow analysis around the blade was conducted using RSM and RNG.K-ε turbulence modeling and it is simulated by Fluent software. The results were considered for the cases as Mach number loss at the trailing edge of blade caused by vortexes that were generated at the end of blade. Effect of cooling flow through the trailing edge on th...

Influence of Non-Uniform Wall Temperature on Local Heat Transfer Coefficient in a Rotating Square Channel

Abstract: This paper presents the results of an experimental examination of the effect of non-uniform wall temperature on local heat transfer coefficient in a rotating smooth-walled square channel. Three different thermal boundary situations were investigated: (a) even and odd (four) wall uniform temperature, (b) even and odd (four) wall uniform heat flux, and (c) even (leading and trailing) w...
